Not two seconds after I snapped this picture, he tried to crawl off the chair. So RIP monthly glider pics!
Our little 9 month old - 9 month old, did I really just say that? - is quite the busy bee these days. We're still in the army crawl stage - he can't quite figure out how to move forward while on his hands and knees - and he is very into assisted walking, especially "chasing" after Jasper. His love for Jasper grows by the week, and it's the sweetest thing to watch blossom. He army crawls to get his toys, and he hands them to Jasper. He reaches out to him whenever he passes by, and sometimes manages to get a handful of doodle hair - Jasper is such a good sport! He even tries to bark now in response to Jasper (I swear I'm not just a crazy mom, there is video proof!) At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if his first word turned out to be Jasper. I wouldn't even be disappointed.
We have ZERO TEETH yet. That's right, our gummy smile remains! I thought it would delay his introduction to new foods, but he shows no signs of stopping. We're transitioning pretty much completely out of purees right now because Wyatt is losing interest fast. He wants what we have, and when we try to sneak in baby food, he gets pretty annoyed and refuses to eat it. I thought tempers weren't supposed to appear until toddlerhood, what the heck! Some of his new favorites that he tried this month were sushi (sweet potato tempura and avocado...no raw fish!), ground pork, quinoa pasta, zucchini bread, cashew butter, lobster, eggplant bruschetta, and kale.
He is a champion sleeper still (thank GOD), and he loves his daycare. He's beginning to socialize at daycare now, and it's pretty darn cute to see him sitting with his little infant buddies while they all play with toys and shriek when they get excited. He's just beginning to show signs of that "stranger danger" anxiety that usually hits around this time. If he's being held by someone other than mom or dad, he kind of panics a bit. Luckily, this hasn't affected him too much at daycare, so let's hope it stays that way.
This month, we're headed to Newport, RI for a long weekend, and it will be our first beach trip since we went down to Florida when he was 4 months old. We're pretty excited! Newport is one of my top 3 favorite places to travel to, and I can't wait to bring Wyatt there! The plan is to relax, visit a mansion or two, take the stroller out for a stroll on the Cliff Walk, eat lots of seafood, go to the beach, maybe hit up one of the wineries. Wyatt is still at a stage where it's really easy to take him places, so we're going to take advantage while we can!
There's something more nostalgic about this monthly milestone than the others. Wyatt has officially been out for as long as he was in! I thought pregnancy went by fast, but NOTHING compares to how quickly time passes once they are born. So just for fun, here's a "9 months in...9 months out" recap shot:
